PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SALANDI IRRIGATION PROJECT

To find out the system performance of Salandi Irrigation Project which includes Agro-economic, Socio-Economic & Environmental impacts, Central Water Commission, New Delhi has awarded Post Project Performance Evaluation Study of Salandi Irrigation Project to WALMI, Odisha to identify the deficiencies, problematic areas and suggest measures to address the deficiencies for improving the performance of project for achieving the envisaged objectives and benefits.

The study will be carried out in the command area of Salandi Irrigation Project over a period of 18 months. The agreement was signed on 03.10.2012 and will continue till 03.04.14. In this context WALMI, Odisha has formed a multi-disciplinary team of experts to collect, investigate and analyze various aspects of the performance evaluation study of Salandi Irrigation Project.

To carry out the work, a joint meeting was conducted consisting of staff of WALMI, Odisha, Executive Engineers, Salandi Canal Division, Bhadrak, Baitarani Irrigation Division, Salapada under the chairmanship of CCE, Anandpur Barrage Project on 18.1.13 at Bidyadharpur. The Chief Construction Engineer, Anandpur Barrage Project, Salapada has been nominated as Nodal officer for the above study vide Department of Water Resources Letter No.4995 dt. 20.02.13.

The secondary information regarding Salandi Irrigation project and other related data collection is in the process. So also initial discussion with concerned authorities has been carried out for preparation of research methodology, selection of sample villages, canals, Minor and sub-minors, status of Pani Panchayats, Maps & drawing etc before collection of primary data from the stakeholder.
